Y-Kids After School Club offers fun activities for 4*-12 year olds in a safe and welcoming environment. We provide affordable, quality childcare for working parents and encourage and support children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
Every weekday during term-time. Collection from school until 18:00.
How it works
Children are collected from school (see list of local schools below) by YMCA staff and driven to the YMCA Sports and Community Centre in Redhill where they enjoy a healthy snack. Each afternoon offers fun-packed structured sessions of sports, arts and crafts, cookery and outdoor play. Activities support and encourage children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development. A homework area is also available.
Qualified playleaders deliver lively and interesting sessions and encourage each child to participate in a range of individual and group activities, challenging them to try new things. They may decide to take part in sport, play boardgames with friends, create a masterpiece in the arts and crafts room or just sit quietly and read.
Update on venues from January 2018
As you may be aware, we are developing our outside sports pitch at the YMCA Sports & Community Centre into a new Inclusive Sports Facility. We expect building work to start in the New Year. This extension will allow us to increase our sporting activities for all, including those with disabilities.
In order to accommodate this development and the growing number of children attending Y-Kids After School Club, we will run the club from two YMCA sites starting January 2018.
Children who attend Earlswood Infant and Junior schools will continue to come to the YMCA Sports & Community Centre in Princes Road, Redhill. As the only school onsite, the children will have more space upstairs to enjoy active games and sports as well as a range of crafts. We will also still have a quiet area for children in Reception and Year One.
Children who attend St Joseph’s, St John’s, St Matthew’s, Lime Tree, Dover’s Green and Sandcross schools will go to the YMCA Sovereign Centre on Slipshatch Road, Reigate. This is a dedicated centre for children with excellent facilities including a main activity room where children can enjoy games and crafts, as well as an outside play area and sports pitch.
If your child currently takes part in any of our recreational sports (football, gymnastics and trampolining) and will be going to After School Club at the YMCA Sovereign Centre, we will contact you individually to discuss this. We hoping to accommodate new recreational classes at the centre.
We will continue to run our school holiday playscheme from the YMCA Sports & Community Centre in Redhill and will increase the number of trips so the children still have plenty of time outside.
