The Devon C2C is an iconic coast to coast challenge striking across the South West Peninsular linking the Bristol and English Channels; quite frankly a must for all cyclists who prefer doing it off road. Starting at Minehead and finishing in the historic town of Plymouth riding across some of the most remote and wild countryside in Britain. The route is 125 miles and will take three days giving you the chance to see first-hand the wonders of the West, staying overnight in Minehead, Yeo Mill and Chagford before arriving at Plymouth. Join us for a celebratory meal on Saturday, then enjoy a good night’s sleep before being driven back to the YMCA on Sunday 5 August. Cyclists will cover up to 40 miles per day over tough terrain, making it a challenge in endurance and technical skills, therefore we recommend to enjoy your experience you take advantage of our free training sessions.

This event is being delivered by YMCAs across the South East (YMCA East Surrey, YMCA Downslink Group, YMCA Thames Gateway and YMCA West Kent). If booking online, please ensure you let us know which YMCA you will be raising money for. Full details of fundraising support will be sent to you by your chosen YMCA on receipt of entry.

Cost includes all transport, 4 nights’ hotel accommodation, breakfast, lunches, bespoke YMCA cycle shirt, commemorative medal and full support during the event.

Fundraising

If you are fundraising for YMCA East Surrey, then thank you!

The YMCA Challenge programme was set up to raise money for our charitable work and over the last three years our wonderful participants have raised over £466k in sponsorship which is being used to help build a fabulous £2.6m inclusive sports facility at our site in Princes Rd.

Sponsorship from events in 2018 will go towards helping us expand our play and leisure schemes for children and young people with disabilities across 4 sites in East Surrey.  These short breaks help children with complex needs to learn new skills, gain confidence and have fun, whilst offering parents and siblings a vital break.

We are hoping you will help us to reach our 2018 fundraising target of £100k.  This money will enable us to offer 300 families in East Surrey an additional 1,040 days of short break provision throughout the year.

The entry fee purely covers the cost of the event. Although we have not specified a target, we are hoping you will feel inspired by our work in the community and what we are trying to achieve, therefore would ask that you consider raising a minimum of £500.

Cost

  • £365 total
  • £200 non-refundable deposit payable on entry
  • Balance of £165 to be paid 10 weeks before departure date
  • Includes all transport, 4 nights’ hotel accommodation, breakfast, lunches, bespoke YMCA cycle shirt, commemorative medal and full support during the event.
