We would like to reassure all parents and carers that we are planning to offer high quality provision for children with all levels of need including those requiring one to one support. We know what a vital lifeline quality short breaks offer, so please be assured that we are committed to providing the best possible support for all families. We are very hopeful that we will be able to use the same venues and retain as many of the existing staff as possible to ensure a smooth transition and we are determined to give every child, whatever their needs, the best possible experience.
YMCA East Surrey has 15 years experience of delivering play and leisure schemes for children and young people in Reigate & Banstead and was one of the founding members of the Play and Leisure Consortium. Our excellent team of qualified and experienced staff deliver schemes on Saturdays, throughout all school holidays and after school. Our schemes offer a variety of activities and day trips and aim to help children and young people gain confidence, learn new skills, stay safe and healthy and find a sense of belonging but above all, have fun! YMCA believes that every child and young person regardless of ability or need should be able to enjoy fun activities in safe and stimulating surroundings.
Surrey County Council engagement feedback
Surrey County Council is keen to use this time as an opportunity to hear back from families and would like your views on the new proposed offer before the County Council’s Cabinet makes its final decision on 18 July 2017. The information that you provide will be considered by Cabinet before they make the final decision and will be used to help plan for a smooth transition to any new services on 1 December 2017.
Every few years, Surrey County Council is legally required to re-issue contracts to providers of short breaks services. Whilst this legal process can cause uncertainty for a time, it also has many benefits. It provides an opportunity to listen to families, explore options for the future and develop the best possible services in response to changing needs. It also helps to ensure that public funding is being spent on the highest quality services that offer the best value for money to residents. This may mean re-appointing an existing provider, should they put forward the strongest proposals, or a change to a new provider.
Families have helped us shape each stage of the process, from assessing needs, reviewing the current offer and identifying the outcomes families want to achieve from short breaks, to designing the proposed services and evaluating funding bids from potential providers to deliver these services.
Surrey County Council would like to thank all the families who have given their time and feedback throughout the engagement process which closed on 16 June. The information that you have given will be used to inform the Council’s Cabinet’s final decision on awarding the new contracts on 18 July 2017.
