YMCA East Surrey’s local prevention team works with young people aged 10-16 throughout the borough of Reigate & Banstead and districts of Tandridge and Mole Valley.
Our programmes aim to engage with young people who display risk factors linked to them becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or offending, by supporting them to reach their full potential. We provide services that best meet the needs of young people and offer local solutions to communities. Young people can access our projects by way of referral.
Street Talk is our extensive detached youth work programme. Working in the heart of local communities engaging young people in their space, with a view to building up rapport, offering information, advice and guidance, as well as offering exciting activites and promoting the local youth offer.
Express Yourself is a creative media art project that aims to enable young people to express themselves through developing their skills in photography, film making, animation and graphic design.
Escape is a diversionary project that runs during school holidays creating opportunities for young people at risk to engage for the first time in youth work activities and offsite trips, allowing the youth work team to begin building relationships and rapport with young people.
Heads Together counselling offers young people aged 14-24 a safe, confidential space to talk about things that are troubling them. Young people are able to access free support from a member of our team who is trained to listen and to help look at how things can be improved.
Mentoring sessions for young people who are most at risk to help them set life goals and support them to achieve.
