100m Road Event in London
Sunday 31 July 2016
Online bookings have now closed for YMCA East Surrey’s Ride London places. If you are interested in taking part, please contact the Challenge Events fundraising team.
Prudential RideLondon is now acknowledged to be the world’s greatest festival of cycling. Join over 25,000 cyclists for a 100 mile cycle challenge that takes in the iconic sights of London and the Surrey Hills in a modified and traffic free version of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race. Starting in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, there are muscle screaming climbs and spectacular scenery before you cross the finish line on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace. Free Team YMCA cycle shirt and training for all participants.
Ride London is the largest charity cycling event in the UK and you can cycle in the tyre marks of legends whilst raising money for your local YMCA.
Everyone taking part will receive a bespoke YMCA Cycle Shirt and commemorative medal. Arrangements can be made to get your bike back from London. Call us for more information.
To ensure your level of fitness is adequate for this event, please join our FREE, friendly and fun training programme designed to give you the fitness and stamina you will need to achieve your goal.
Training rides will take place on Sunday 31 January, 28 February, 20 March, 24 April, 22 May and 12 June starting at 9.00am from the YMCA.
Weekly Tuesday evening rides will take place at 6.30pm from the YMCA starting on 12 April.
We would also encourage cyclists to join a cycle club, if not a member already where training sessions are available every week. The nearest one to us is Redhill Cycling Club. Local club Team Cake also take regular social rides, information for which can be found on their Facebook Page.
This year, we are asking riders in Ride London to pay a registration fee of £50 to secure the place, plus pledge to raise the minimum sponsorship of £500, ensuring that at least 66% of donations come directly to YMCA East Surrey to be spent on our charitable work throughout East Surrey, so we will do everything we can to help you reach this target.
Money raised from Challenge fundraising events goes into our Challenge Fund which provides vital resources for our charitable work across East Surrey. One of our main projects this year is to create a new and unique disability sports, fitness and wellbeing facility, the first of its kind in East Surrey, designed to inspire and support people of all ages and ability to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.
You will be provided with a full fundraising pack to get you started, as well as our expert advice and guidance. View our 15 Top Fundraising Tips!
