The Italian Job:  Geneva to Turin across the Alps!

Tuesday 11 – Sunday 16 July 2017

A stunning 5 day cycle across the Alps crossing three countries along smooth roads with breathtaking scenery. Stay each night in local hotels before conquering some of the most beautiful and famous Tour mountains including Col de l’Iseran, Col du Galibier and Col du Télégraphe before finishing in the historic and cultural town of Turin. Additional climbs will be available to those familiar with cycling in the Alps. Price includes flights to Geneva and back from Turin, five nights accommodation and full support en route. Bikes will be transported to the start and brought back by our support crew ready for collection on Monday 17 July from 6-7pm. 

This really is the cycle trip of a lifetime and very much achievable, however, to ensure you enjoy it to its full, make sure you take advantage of our FREE monthly training sessions and perhaps come and join our gym, do some spinning classes and some strengthening exercises to be fit and raring to go.

The cost of the event is just £695 and includes all flights, accommodation, transport, leadership and full support on the event including breakfast, lunches and snacks during the day.  Everyone taking part will receive a bespoke Team YMCA cycle shirt and commemorative medal.

Training

Join our FREE, friendly and fun training programme designed to give you the fitness and stamina you will need to achieve your goal.

We would also encourage cyclists to join a cycle club, if not a member already, where training sessions are available every week. The nearest one to us is Redhill Cycling Club.  Local club Team Cake also take regular social rides, information for which can be found on their Facebook Page.

Fundraising

Money raised from all our events this year will help us create a brand new, disability sports, fitness and wellbeing facility, designed to inspire and support people of all ages and ability to be more active and healthy.

This will be a centre of excellence for families, those suffering from learning and physical disabilities, people with emotional and mental health issues, the elderly and people recovering from chronic illness. The purpose-built, fully accessible facility will offer a wide programme of disability sports, rehabilitation and preventative health activities, delivered by specialist, friendly staff and inspiring volunteers. Our aim is to create a wonderful culture of inclusivity, where everyone feels welcome and is empowered to create healthy, active and fulfilling lives.

The entry fee covers the cost of the event and money raised through sponsorship will go towards the Inclusive Sports facility.  Although we have not specified a target, we are hoping you will feel inspired by our work in the community and what we are trying to achieve, therefore would ask that you consider raising a minimum of £500.
