Yorkshire 3 Peaks
Friday 29 June – Sunday 1 July 2018
This infamous classic walk in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales takes in the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in a circular route. The walk is 24.5 miles (39.2km) long and takes in approximately 5,000 feet (1,600 metres) of climbing and each group will be led by our experienced walking team. Traditionally, but not mandatory, this walk is completed within a target of 12 hours in order to join the ‘Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club’.
Leaving on Friday 29 June, our minibuses will transport all walkers from YMCA East Surrey to the YHA in Malham and following a well-deserved full English on Sunday 1 July bring you back the YMCA East Surrey. This event will be rewarding, but challenging and we recommend you take advantage of our free training sessions.
Cost includes all transport, technical t-shirt, commemorative medal, breakfast, lunches, youth hostel accommodation and full support during the event.
We will be organising a variety of training walks and runs to help you get ready for this event.
Wednesday evening walks will start from Wednesday 28 March.
Or take on our Y2Y North Downs Marathon Trek across the North Downs on Sunday 11 March.
Information evening – Wednesday 20 June
Please keep Wednesday 20 June free for our Yorkshire 3 Peaks information evening starting at 19:30 at the YMCA Sovereign Centre, Slipshatch Road, Reigate RH2 8HA.
The YMCA Challenge programme was set up to raise money for our charitable work and over the last three years our wonderful participants have raised over £466k in sponsorship which is being used to help build a fabulous £2.6m inclusive sports facility at our site in Princes Rd.
Sponsorship from events in 2018 will go towards helping us expand our play and leisure schemes for children and young people with disabilities across 4 sites in East Surrey. These short breaks help children with complex needs to learn new skills, gain confidence and have fun, whilst offering parents and siblings a vital break.
We are hoping you will help us to reach our 2018 fundraising target of £100k. This money will enable us to offer 300 families in East Surrey an additional 1,040 days of short break provision throughout the year.
The entry fee purely covers the cost of the event and we are hope you will feel inspired by our work in the community and what we are trying to achieve. Our suggested minimum sponsorship for this event is £250.
£149 payable on entry
Includes all transport, technical t-shirt, commemorative medal, breakfast, lunches, youth hostel accommodation and full support during the event.
