WAVES update – 2 March 2026
Since 2021, YMCA East Surrey has delivered WAVES groups as part of the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health services funded by the NHS and Surrey County Council through Surrey Wellbeing Partnership.
Unfortunately, due to reduced funding and higher costs for delivering services, YMCA East Surrey has made the difficult decision to cease WAVES groups across East Surrey in their current format from 1 April 2026.
We are mindful of the important part that WAVES plays in the lives of the young people who attend. We are currently reviewing the possibility of running a similar weekly drop-in group at YMCA Horley Young People’s Centre after the Easter school holidays. Your comments and suggestions regarding this proposed group are warmly welcomed.
YMCA East Surrey continues to provide many group activities for children and young people, as do schools and other community organisations. Please find below alternative provision that you might like to consider – in particular, see the first link to YMCA Youth Clubs which continue to be offered across East Surrey:

We understand that this news about the changes to WAVES may be disappointing and upsetting. We are committed to supporting young people and families at this time. Thank you for your continued support of WAVES.
Yours sincerely,
Judith Brooks
