The Old Pheasantry, set in the heart of the beautiful Surrey Hills, is a fantastic base for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Our garden area offers a safe and scenic environment for small groups to pitch tents and enjoy a real outdoor experience.

Facilities - Access to Toilets and Water – While camping takes place in the garden, groups have access to indoor toilets and running water within the main house.
- No Indoor Sleeping or Cooking Areas – This is a true outdoor camping experience, with indoor access limited to essential facilities only.
Transport and parking
Minibus Access Only – Due to a narrow single-track road, large coaches are unable to access the site.
Limited Parking – Parking is restricted during school hours but available outside those times. Please contact us to discuss your group’s needs.
Volunteering opportunities
If anyone in your group is looking to complete the Volunteering section of their DofE Award, YMCA East Surrey offers a wide range of volunteering roles across many of our services for young people aged 16+. From youth work to events support and outdoor projects, we’re happy to help match participants with a suitable opportunity.
