Kim’s Walk

This event is planned as a 10-mile walk. However, if this is too far, we have a reduced 5-mile walk option for those who require a shorter distance. Alternatively, if you are unable to join us for the walk, you can also book to attend the BBQ.

This 10-mile local walk will start and finish at the YMCA Sports & Community Centre in Redhill. The route will take in the stunning local countryside following paths and trails through Redhill Common and Priory Park before heading to the halfway support stop at Moon Hall School and on to Earlswood Lakes before returning to the YMCA.

The support stop halfway along the route near Moon Hall School will serve hot and cold drinks and snacks to refresh you for the rest of your walk. On arrival back at the YMCA, there will be a BBQ where we can carry on sharing memories and celebrating Kim’s life.

Life Change Fund

Fundraise for us to transform young lives in East Surrey!

There is no fundraising target for this event, however we ask that you consider fundraising to support our Life Change Fund, which was set up by Kim, to help transform young lives in East Surrey.  In 2023, this fund aims to support our Y-Bus Appeal.

We have exciting plans for a new ‘Y-Bus’ – a mobile youth club on wheels to reach young people in areas where there is little or no youth provision.

The aim of the bus is to offer activities, advice and support to young people across East Surrey, with a focus on those who are:
• Not in education, employment or training (NEET)
• Engaging in anti-social behaviour
• Facing issues at school
• Struggling with mental health issues
• At risk of exploitation or offending.

Our trained YMCA youth workers will take the bus to seek out young people in their own environment and provide an informal setting for activities and discussion, as well as provide signposting to other services if needed.

The bus will have a small seating area inside and will be kitted out with a games console, iPad and TV. The bus will have its own generator so it can run a microwave and a toaster, and provide hot drinks and other refreshments.

This will not only help young people to succeed and reach their potential, but will help to strengthen families, support schools and tackle issues such as crime and anti-social behaviour, helping to keep communities happy and safe.

We need your help!
You can help the Y-Bus get on the road by fundraising for us. Every penny will go towards helping young people in East Surrey to belong, contribute and thrive. Thank you!
