As one of the only Short Break providers offering clubs over the Christmas period, YMCA East Surrey was full to the brim with children and young people with disabilities.

At Yippee, the YMCA’s playscheme for children aged 5-11 years with a range of disabilities and complex needs, there was an average of 30 children per day. The local charity ran a wide variety of different festive activities, including Christmas baking, a Christmas party and an exciting visit from Santa, who brought lots of lovely gifts for the children.

At Yip4Youth, the fun and friendly school holiday scheme for young people with disabilities aged between 12-18 years, there was an average of 15 young people per day. The highlight of the festive season was a fantastic trip to Dorking Halls for their Christmas pantomime. A New Year’s party finished off the holiday week for both the children and young people, with some brilliant dance moves on show from everyone!

In total, YMCA East Surrey delivered 1,350 hours of Short Breaks over the Christmas holidays, providing vital relief to many local families in need of support.
