27 August 2015

It’s 8am on Saturday 22 August. Most people would just be waking up or thinking what they should do for the day. Not for young people involved in the YMCA’s OnSide project.

They have been looking forward to this residential ride all summer because its the start of 100km bike ride from Shoreham – Redhill.

The group were driven to Shoreham before setting off to Dorking on their first leg for a well earned rest. The second leg saw them cycling from Dorking to Redhill meeting up with other riders from the YMCA involved in a challenge event along the way.

A special well done to all the group who took part but in particular to Natalie. Natalie comes to every ride session and will say herself she’s not the best rider but boy does she make up for it with energy, enthusiasm and a can do attitude that others can only aspire too. Even after she went the wrong way when leading the group she picked herself up and carried on. She is a true star and a pleasure to work with and too be around. Natalie also raised over £300 which will be used to towards future inclusive sports activities.

Thank you to Natalie her family and all the team and young people that made this residential a joy.
